Prevention is key to saving your Ash Trees from the Emerald Ash Borer.

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) may be smaller than the size of a penny, but don't let its size fool you. This little pest has already killed millions of Ash trees in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. In May of this year (2009), it was discovered in St. Paul, Minnesota and that means now is the time to protect your Ash trees from this destructive little beetle.

The green thumbed experts at Halla Nursery recommend that all Ash trees up to 12 inches in diameter should be treated with Bonide Tree & Shrub Insect Control now.

This product quickly dissolves in water allowing the insecticide to move through the soil into the root zone. Once in the roots, the insecticide moves up through the tree providing year-long EAB protection.

For best results, use this product in the fall as part of a preventative treatment but with the recent invasion of the EAB, Halla Nursery recommends treating your Ash trees with Bonide Tree & Shrub Insect Control now, while your trees are actively growing in the summer months. Then, repeat the process in the fall for optimal protection. When applying this product during dry periods, generously water the tree or shrub the night before treatment.

Halla Nursery in Chanhassen has everything you need to protect your Ash trees including Bonide Tree & Shrub Insect Control, watering cans and chemical resistant gloves. If you have large Ash trees beyond a 12-inch diameter, contact us for more information.
